Affiliate Disclosure
The Payday is an independent Canadian comparison and editorial site about cash advances and short-term lending. This page explains, in plain language, how the site is funded and what that means for you as a reader. We would rather you understood our incentives than trusted us blindly.
The short version: The Payday does not lend money. When partner offers are in place, we may be paid a commission if you are referred to a third-party provider and take a qualifying action there. That payment does not buy a favourable write-up, and it does not change what we publish.
The Payday is not a lender and not a broker
The Payday does not lend money, does not hold or transfer funds, and does not accept, assess or approve loan applications. We are not a broker, an agent, or an intermediary acting on your behalf, and we do not negotiate terms for you with anyone. Any credit agreement you enter into is strictly between you and the provider you choose. We are a publisher: we write guides, we explain how this type of credit works, and, when partners are configured, we point readers toward third parties who do lend.
How affiliate compensation works
Affiliate publishing is a referral arrangement. A provider agrees to pay a publisher when a reader arrives at the provider through a tracked link and then takes a qualifying action, which might be submitting an application, being approved, or completing an agreement, depending on what that provider has agreed to pay for. The reader is not charged anything extra by us for arriving through that link, and the provider sets its own terms regardless of how you found it.
Compensation does not buy editorial coverage
This is the part that matters most. A commission, or the prospect of one, never changes what our editorial team writes about a product. A provider cannot pay to be described more favourably, to have a drawback removed, to be ranked higher, or to have a critical guide taken down. Providers do not review or approve our copy before it is published, and they have no right of veto over it. If a provider that pays us has a genuine weakness, we will say so, and if that costs us the relationship, that is the cost of running the site this way.
What a paying partner can never do
For the avoidance of doubt, a commercial relationship with The Payday does not include any of the following:
- Editing, approving or previewing our editorial content before publication
- Buying a higher position in any listing, table or recommendation
- Having an accurate criticism, drawback or warning removed
- Preventing us from covering a competitor, including one that pays us nothing
- Adding a testimonial, rating or claim that we have not verified ourselves
We will not list every provider in the market
No comparison site covers everything, and any site that implies otherwise is overselling itself. Some providers do not run affiliate programmes at all, some do not operate in every province, some we may choose not to work with, and some we may simply not have reviewed yet. So you should read anything published here as a partial view of the market rather than a complete census of it. Where a provider is missing, that absence should not be read as a judgement about it, and where a provider is present, that presence should not be read as an endorsement of borrowing.
Current partner offers
Partner offers coming soon. Nothing is listed here because no provider relationship has been set up. We will not fill this space with example entries, because a placeholder that looks like real data is worse than an empty box.

Common questions
Does it cost me more to use a link on this site?
No. Any commission is paid by the provider out of its own marketing budget. You are not charged a referral fee by The Payday, and using a link here does not change the price a provider offers you.
Are you paid for anything on the site right now?
No. No partner offers are configured and no affiliate arrangement is currently live, so nothing on this site is earning a commission today.
If you get paid, is the ranking just an advertisement?
No. Compensation has no influence on editorial judgement, ordering or criticism. When compensated links exist, they will be identified as such so you can weigh them yourself.
Are you giving me financial advice?
No. Everything here is general information about how this kind of credit works. It is not financial or legal advice and it is not tailored to your situation. Confirm the rules that apply in your province before deciding anything.
